I... attended the earliest ORIENTED functions in Taipei in the late ‘90s. Since then, I've witnessed (ORIENTED) expand worldwide. It's by far the most recognized net- working organization in Shanghai, continuously run- ning monthly Happy Hours since 2002. For Asia focused professionals, ORIENTED is synonymous with networking and relationship building."

James Leu, Founder & Managing Partner
Talk da Talk English, Shanghai

"... After over two years of involvement with ORIENTED, I am often asked why I continue to organize events. To me, it's clear and simple. ORIENTED members are dynamic, intelligent and energetic. Through the ORIENTED network, I have met both business contacts and some of my closest friends. It's this diverse group that keeps me going - it's my way of giving back. Come to an event and see for yourself!

Businesspeople, entrepreneurs, academics, scientists/engineers, diplomats, journalists, artists, philanthropists..you name it! All can be found at ORIENTED. If you are looking to break out of your niche, and learn about what other people are doing in YOUR city - this is a great organization to be a part of."

Eyee Hsu, TV Host
CCTV, China

"... We wanted to promote our China-based graduate programs to professionals across North America, but we couldn't figure out how to reach that audience. After hearing about ORIENTED's community of sophisticated and ambitious individuals, we immediately decided to partner with them."

Jonathan Tang, International Marketing Manager
Cheung Kong Graduate School of Business (founded by Li Ka-shing)

"... The ability to name the undergraduate college I attended (and pronounce it correctly) within two minutes of talking to me - that's the magic of ORIENTED. I first checked out an ORIENTED Happy Hour the second week of my arrival in Taipei. From that, not only have I secured a great job but also an amazing group of friends..."

"... ORIENTED brings together people from all corners of the world with whom you might have walked past one day but never got a chance to meet. It helps you realize the importance of staying connected on a global level. It is my goal in the future to drop by all the Happy Hours at each location - and then start some more in others!"

Evelyne Tseng
Pamir Law Group

"... Before joining ORIENTED, I had an objective of meeting a couple new people per month. After being involved with ORIENTED, I got to know so many people that the goal is now to keep in touch!"

Wei Min Tan, Vice President
Citigroup - Citicards Cross Sell

"I joined the ORIENTED networking events in Beijing in 2006 when I took a sabbatical to study Mandarin. I have tried several networking events in Beijing before but never really liked any of those. They were either too 'stiff' or people were too busy handing out business cards instead of having a nice chat. ORIENTED was different from the start - a good mix of people from Asian and Western backgrounds, highly diverse in experiences, and the one thing that struck me most is that people had fun and were interested in talking to new acquaintances. I am moving to Singapore later this year and I cannot wait to join the ORIENTED networks there!"

Christina Jeloschek, Global Commercial Manager with a passion for Asia

"Well done Christina! The event was very well organized with a diversity of people from all backgrounds. Nice location too. It was my first time to attend this kind of networking event, and I was amazed how many people turned up and how friendly everyone was. This event is intended for everyone - no matter you are looking for business opportunities, for new challenges/new jobs, or simply want to increase your circle of friends. Can't wait until next meeting..."

Hainan X.
ORIENTED Singapore Member

"As one of China's premier community-oriented magazines, City Weekend is always looking for regular, monthly events that can bring together the community and ORIENTED does just that. ORIENTED is one of the most recognized brand in the offline networking space in Beijing and Shanghai. We are proud to have partnered with ORIENTED since 2003 and and look forward to our continued good relations."

CityWeekend Magazine, China

"... Being involved with ORIENTED has been a fun and interesting experience. Since I am new to Shanghai, the industry panels I am helping to coordinate give me something interesting to do, a way to shape something from ground up, and an excuse to go network with lots of people."

Lauren Kwan, Founder
ORIENTED Dialogue & Exchange Program

"Well done and thank you on the event last night! I thought the format worked very well and I will be encouraging others to attend in the future. I particularly liked the mix of panelists and their different perspectives..."

Rob Metcalf
Rouse & Co. - Intellectual Property Specialists, Shanghai

"... Volunteering for ORIENTED's first "Dialogue & Exchange" event, I met a nice gentleman from DragonTV. We chatted and exchanged cards as any good Shanghai-networker might, and I told him I was looking for - a media job with writing potential. I've now been working at DragonTV as a news anchor and copy editor for almost a year.

In the midst of Shanghai's networking din, I truly believe there is someone looking for your interests and talents at ORIENTED events: that's why they've come too! I'll see you there, I'm a volunteer for life!"

Angela Wu, News Anchor
DragonTV

"... it has been an absolute pleasure to be involved with ORIENTED. It has been the lifeblood of my social life here in Taipei and I will be forever grateful for the fabulous people I have met as a result, yourself and my fellow organisers to say the very least. I will definitely be attending in Hong Kong this month to see how things are going there and I know they are looking for organisers so you never know. Take care of yourself my dear and all the best. If I ever end up somewhere which does not benefit from the presence of ORIENTED, I will let you know."

Abi Kirk-Walker, International Manager
The Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation (HSBC)

"...I've been going to the ORIENTED Happy Hours for two years now, first year as an organizer and now just a regular attendee, and I can honestly say that its the only social networking event I've found in Beijing that has maintained a constant level of professionalism. It's been consistent in its format and constantly attracts quality people. I've enjoyed everyone I've met and have made great contacts."

Cathleen Chang, TV Host
China Central Television International

"... Throughout my time spent whether as an organizer or member, I have gained invaluable networking contacts and learned from other member's life / career experiences. ORIENTED fosters a comfortable networking environment that encourages others to express their views and help promote the vision & achieve the goals of the organization."

Mimi Chan, Former Organizer
ORIENTED New York

"I enjoyed attending your (Shanghai) events as I find the discussions were down to earth and practical."

Ted Lee, Managing Partner

"... At the (Tokyo) happy hour event, I have met many people who work and live in Tokyo, just like myself. It was exciting to get to know them as I was usually too busy with my work to meet new people. I would definitely recommend the event, especially, for busy professionals."

Rena Abe, Consultant - IT Services
Hudson Global Resources

"... This really works...I don't think of myself as a "networker," someone who goes to professional events to shake hands and hand out business cards right and left, but my current position is a direct result of going to a ORIENTED happy hour. You could say I met my former boss at a bar...or at a professional networking event -- they're both true! The happy hours are a relaxed environment to meet some really interesting and fun people, and meanwhile even develop a career!

Berta Liao
Lehman Brothers

"... I have been going to the ORIENTED events in the San Francisco Bay Area for the last few months. I am very impressed with the venues, the planning and the friendly staff. I had great opportunities in meeting people from all walks of life and certainly enjoyed the casual atmosphere of networking. I highly recommend ORIENTED to young professionals that are looking to meet new friends."

David Pan, CEO
Angelex Technologies

"... ORIENTED has surpassed itself this month with the hosting of a panel discussion on the China Media Market. In addition to a panel made up of well choosen industry insiders, the stylish and ultra modern offices of Haworth Inc. lent a classy and relaxed atmosphere to the event. The excellent mix of professionals, students and media affectionados meant that the discussions lasted well into the night. Well done to the ORIENTED team and let's keep doing them! "

Steven Flynn
Tarantula Communications

"... If you want to meet some dynamic, entrepreneurial people focused on business in Asia-Pacific, check it out."

Jack Marr
Business Building Consultant, Tokyo

"... Hi Jim and Lauren, (I) had a very informative evening and the quality and the format of the discussion certainly exceeded my expectations. Looking forward to more such events. If there's anything CEIBS can do to assist, don't hesitate to ask. Regards, Paul..."

Paul Foo in Shanghai, MBA candidate
China Europe International Business School (CEIBS)

"... Japan is now, perhaps, for the first time ever, entering a period of time when a mutually beneficial and fair relationship with our Asian neighbors is essential to the success of the country and the region. In particular, Japan's relationship with China must improve, not only from a political perspective, but through personal relationships, communication, and friendships. In addition, the rest of the world, too, is looking first to China, second to India, and then to Vietnam, Laos, Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines, and other Asian nations and sees a vast region emerging from a century of war, chaos, and conflict with a capitalist fire and set to conquer the world. ORIENTED is a perfect venue to meet other people working in Asia who are trying to make the HAPPY HOUR last the whole 21st Century and beyond!"

Michael K.Kato

"... I went to the ORIENTED July Happy Hour in Palo Alto for the first time after I've heard about it for couple months. I really had a great time there! First of all, the atmosphere was casual yet dynamic. I feel that it had a right mix of professional and social networking. Secondly, you meet people from all walks of life. They were friendly to share their background and thoughts as well. And next thing you knew, time was running out quickly!"

Ben Wang, Ph.D.
Lead Clustering & JBossCache-Aop
JBoss Inc.

"... As a fresh college graduate new to the business world, ORIENTED.COM gave me an opportunity to meet some really interesting people from around the world. I learned about people's various backgrounds and the career paths they have chosen, and all this has helped me to focus my own sights on which career I would like to pursue. At my first happy hour event in San Francisco, I even met the founder, Christine Hsu, which really shows that you never know who you'll meet at an ORIENTED event - and that's what makes ORIENTED such a great concept."

Brooke Kunpalin, San Francisco

"... You'd be interested to hear that I met someone recently who told me that he met his best friend at his first ORIENTED Happy Hour, and that they just went back to the one last month in Shanghai to celebrate their 'one year anniversary.' Hahaha!"

Anonymous in Shanghai

"... I am sitting here enjoying the Photo Album from last week's Happy Hour. I think the party was great, I had a great time and I think our quiz was just serious enough to be fun and a bit exciting. Since I think our target markets overlap quite a bit and this time was so nice, I hope we can have a chance to work together again sometime."

Elias Ek, Director
Enspyre Corporation

"... I want to thank you for giving DateMyPet.com the opportunity to sponsor the Oriented BBQ event. Although we had entered the sponsorship as part of our giving back to the community policy, we had not expected the great exposure and focus you had given our brand as a sponsor. Not only did our money go to a good cause – the brand exposure was beyond many of our traditional advertising channels. Some of your attendees even personally thanked me for sponsoring the event (this is a first for any DateMyPet.com sponsored events and is an indication of the quality of your attendees).

I will highly recommend ORIENTED to others who are looking to promote their company."

Robert Yau, Founder & CEO
DateMyPet.com

"... The Chinese Historical Society of America was happy to be the host of ORIENTED's May event to celebrate Asian Pacific American Heritage Month in San Francisco. Over 120 attendees viewed our museum's exhibit on the History of the Chinese in American. In a relaxed and fun atmosphere, everyone had a chance to enjoy the exhibits, the drinks and the networking. For many it was their first time in the museum and a chance to learn about Chinese American history, art and culture in an elegant setting. Thanks again to ... ORIENTED... or helping to bring our community closer together."

Willard Chin
President, Board of Directors
Chinese Historical Society of America

"... Hi Vivian, Christine, Amy, I just wanted to extend my thanks to all of you for putting on such a well-attended networking event a couple of weeks ago for ORIENTED and AACSN. It was organized so smoothly and I think a lot of new people learned about AACSN too. I hope we all keep in touch and work together again in the future."

Fidelia B.
Vice President & Co-Founder
Asian American Cancer Cancer Support Network

Below are photos taken with the staff of the American Chamber of Commerce, Taipei who helped to greet the over 100 people who attended our joint event in Taipei.

AmCham staff were able to respond to questions about the Chamber's services, membership benefits and upcoming events, as well as to promote their TOPICS Magazine, giving away free copies to the first fifty people to arrive. The event was also attended by a number of out-of-town visitors who were in Taipei on business and who had heard of the ORIENTED Happy Hours. Not only were they able to network with the local movers and shakers of Taipei, they also got to learn about the American Chamber of Commerce's services, as well.

"... Most of our members that I talked to last night like this idea of joining events, so that they will not see the "old" faces" all the time... [we] spent lots of time explaining what AmCham was about... it's good publicity for the Chamber to all these future leaders..."

Stella Huang, Director of Programs
American Chamber of Commerce in Taipei
