Helen Wong
Former Organizer, San Francisco

Helen is an Australian who is actually from Middle Earth (New Zealand), and has spent a few years in London and Hong Kong (pre-'97). All this travel through Her Majesty's empire has imparted a wide perspective on all things English. Aside from a deep appreciation for 37 different types of Earl Grey and the architectural subtleties of public houses, Helen has also honed a commingle of English-Antipodean accents. We challenge you to discern the differences. Lately, Helen has added to her linguistic repertoire uniquely Bay-area additions such as 'hella'.

Helen graduated from the Australian National University in Asian Studies. She also honed her Mandarin skills with intensive language study in Taiwan. Her time in Taiwan also included the practice of the ancient art of street food eating, also known as the Tao of Jiao Zi. While in London, Helen was a language interpreter in the social services sector, working primarily with asylum seekers from China.

After 2 years of living with bangers and mash, sunless skies, and Mad Cow disease, Helen escaped to San Francisco. The allure of California's sunny climes and infamous happy cows was too great a temptation. Never has she tasted beef so good.
