Kerry Xu
Former Organizer, Silicon Valley

Born in Shandong Province and raised in Shanghai, Kerry witnessed first-hand the massive changes and developments that took place in that city and throughout China during the 1990s. In Shanghai, Kerry modeled part-time for television commercials and really enjoyed the colorful nightlife and the convenience of city life, but her favorite thing to do was and still is to travel.

Right after high school, Kerry took a job as a flight attendant with China Eastern Airlines, fulfilling her childhood dream of doing so if ever she got the chance. She later went on to receive her undergraduate degree at Shanghai Foreign Language University and had also studied Japanese for six months in Japan. Upon graduation, Kerry worked for United Airlines in Shanghai as a Customer Relations Executive and had the opportunity to travel to a number of places in China and throughout Asia and the U.S.

After visiting San Francisco more than twenty times, Kerry fell in love with the cultural diversity and the wonderful combination of the Western and Asian cultures that the city had to offer and eventually moved to the area in 2001 where she has been based ever since.

Kerry speaks Mandarin, Shanghainese, some Japanese, and a little bit of English (just kidding), but the amount of Cantonese spoken in San Francisco was somewhat of a culture shock when she first arrived! Kerry endeavors to pick up Cantonese as well as French, but she admits to having difficulty pronouncing the letter "L" as she can't roll her tongue no matter how hard she tries.

Kerry has been working for National Investment Consultants in downtown San Francisco for more than two years and still feels new to the finance industry. Interestingly enough, she heard about ORIENTED from a friend of hers in Shanghai who used to work in the U.S. as well!

Let's get oriented!
