Rachel An Co-Head Organizer, Taipei Born into a small family, Rachel lived in an ordinary, small apartment in the heart of the busy Taipei city, where she recalled lots of traffic, people, and noises. However, at the age of six, Rachel's father had a job opportunity in Malawi, so off the whole family went - to Africa! It was the first time they lived abroad together, and it was also when and where Rachel got her ever-lasting tan. Rachel came back and completed elementary school in Taipei and left again in the mid '90's for Swaziland, yet another adventure and an unforgettable experience of her life. Rachel attended Waterford Kamhlaba, the United World College in Southern Africa. She didn't speak much English at the time and struggled with it at first, but with the help of friends and teachers she gradually picked it up and eventually became active in sports as well as social events. She also learned how to cook and threw dinner parties with her dad in Kingdom of Swaziland. Rachel came back to Taiwan in 1997 and graduated from an all girls' high school in Taipei in 2000. She then realized an interesting cycle of her life, that she would leave Taiwan every six years. In 2003, she finally made it to America as an exchange student. She tried to trotter around and hoped to become a cowgirl, but she was just never wild enough... She returned after a year and finally graduated from Fu Jen Catholic University in June 2005 with a BS in Nutrition Science. After graduation, Rachel did a brief stint at Fu Jen's Center for International Academic Exchange in Taipei, where she met international students, teachers and missionaries from all over the world. She subsequently helped to initiate Fu Jen's Worldwide Alumni Association and is now working for a trading company in Taipei that imports natural and organic foods from the US. Rachel loves art, beautiful colors and almost any sports. She loves swimming and really enjoys spending time at beaches and in pools. She played tennis, did kayaking, horseback riding and volleyball, and recently had started doing yoga, rock-climbing, jogging and playing wii. She loves to go grocery shopping at supermarkets and traditional farmers' markets, wowing through the beautiful vegetable and fruit sections, and she also enjoys cooking for friends and family. Rachel went to her first ORIENTED Happy Hour in June 2007. She loves the idea of the global networking events and has already met some really good friends. Joined: October 2007
