Rich was born in Toronto, Canada and had an uneventful and drug-free childhood. He experienced a sheltered private school education, managing to learn French along the way.

Rich attended the University of Toronto for Electrical Engineering and upon graduation worked at Nortel Networks in Ottawa. A frightening lack of a social life and the arctic weather forced Rich to return to Toronto after four years.

The quest for more education has led to a number of stops at different venues along the way. Studying Mandarin at Shida in Taipei; a Bachelor's of Education at York University, and an MBA at York University's Schulich School of Business.

In 2003, Rich spent 8 months working (at Alcoa) and studying in Shanghai (at China Europe International Business School).

He currently lives in Toronto again, and is actively looking for a Finance job(hint, hint).
