Rita Cheng
Organizer, London

Rita Cheng was born in Taipei, Taiwan and received a Bachelor's degree in Journalism at Chinese Culture University. Being a journalist broadened her horizons on all challenging levels, but they were all welcomed challenges. Due to her passion regarding European culture, she decided to pursue a further degree in the UK and thus began her globetrotting lifestyle. Rita received a Masters degree in Political Behaviour at the University of Essex in 2007. This was an experience to remember, for living in the "Big Smoke" (or so London is often referred to as) allowed her to travel all over Europe.

After finishing her Masters degree, Rita wanted to apply her academic achievements to a professional career and began to nurture her strong interest in China's political and economic development. In 0ctober 2007, she moved to Macau and Hong Kong to begin another journalist position for MasTv, a Chinese television production company. Living in Hong Kong and Macau has added another notch to her language skills as she has now confidently conquered the Cantonese dialect.

The draw of the colourful culture of the United Kingdom and its neighbouring European countries was too irresistible as Rita has found herself back in the UK yet again. She is currently working as a freelance correspondent for Taiwan Macroview TV and is thoroughly enjoying her return.

Outside of work, Rita loves to read, swim, and listen to music such as jazz and gothic rock. She loves immersing herself in multiculturalism and enjoys experiencing everything in life. Having per chance met up with the London Head Organizer at local event, Rita has since loved attending the ORIENTED Happy Hours and being able to have a silk of connection with her hometown through the many colourful people she has met at ORIENTED!
