Sandin Wang
Former Organizer, New York

Sandin was born in Taipei, Taiwan. All she remembers of her country before moving to the United States at the age of three years old, is the smell of stinky tofu. After a few years in sunny California, she moved to the urban streets of New York, and then to the suburban seclusion of New Jersey, otherwise known as the "Garden State!?"

Sandin returned to New York for college, where she attended Columbia University. After four years of focusing on environmental health and pollution projects with non-profit and government agencies (and being dubbed a tree-hugger), Sandin turned to the corporate world upon graduation. In the finance industry, Sandin started out in New York with Moody’s Investors Service, and then subsequently moved to Boston with Putnam Investment Management, focusing on risk management.

After four years in Boston, Sandin returned to Taiwan to work, study, and learn more about her Chinese and Taiwanese roots. With the rapid integration of China and Taiwan’s economies, she felt that it would be an interesting time to be in the Greater China region.

With Apollo Securities Investment Trust, Sandin worked on merger and joint venture projects with firms in Shanghai and Australia, as well as global equity research and fund management assignments. In addition, she also volunteered with the Chinese American Professionals in Taiwan as Membership Director and Webmaster.

Overall, Sandin thoroughly enjoyed her experience in Taiwan, once she figured out that the rude locals are actually extremely friendly, and the funny smelling food (stinky tofu) is in fact deliciously delectable.

Sandin is currently in New York working on several personal projects, including ORIENTED Happy Hours! She intends on returning to Greater China in the near future to help shape the region’s developing investment management market.

Besides work and volunteering, Sandin enjoys swimming, rock-climbing, and scuba. She also has a knack for interior design and cooking, as her favorite shows on television are "Trading Spaces" and "Iron Chef!"
