Shek Chien Ng
Former Organizer, Tokyo

Shek, the only son born in a traditional Chinese family, grew up in the Southern part of Malaysia. Since he was a child, he has been instilled with the importance of education and commitment for the best to whatever he does.

Back in his school days, Shek has actively participated in extra-
curricular activities. He was the head prefect of his high school. In university, he was actively involved in the local committee of AIESEC and Management Society. He was selected to represent Malaysia to attend the International Youth Forum which was held in Seoul, one of his many achievements in university. Besides, he is good at sports and has obtained Bronze Medallion certificate, a pre-requisite to be a life-saver.

After graduation, Shek started his career as a commercial banker by joining HSBC Bank Malaysia. For the first two and a half years, he had been attached to various banking operational departments in three Malaysian cities. Later on, he joined HSBC Treasury & Capital Markets as Manager Treasury Sales and then Interest Rates Trader.

After spending 6 years in HSBC, Shek decided to pursue an MBA. He is currently a second year MBA student at the Graduate School of International Corporate Strategy (ICS), Hitotsubashi University, Japan. He has also completed a semester of study at the Darden Graduate School of Business Administration, University of Virginia as an exchange student.

As for his post-MBA plan, Shek wants to stay in Tokyo to carry on his career and to explore more of Japan. While he is exploring the culture of Japan, he would like to share his unique background with his new friends. While he is multilingual with English, Chinese (Mandarin, Hokkien and Cantonese), Malay and Japanese, he understands well about the sensitivity between different races. After all, he has lived in a multi-racial country for the past thirty years.
