Walsh McGuire Co-Head Organizer, Toronto
His great grand uncle was stationed in the US Embassy around 1900. His grand uncle was the chief surgeon of the US Embassy in the 1920s-30s. His grandfather lived in Shanghai from 1925 until 1937. And his father, a research economist, was born in Shanghai and traveled to Asia throughout his entire career. That Walsh found his attention turning towards Asia after graduating from Haverford College was only natural. After some language study in Taipei, Walsh began a professional career with investment banks, working as a trader in Hong Kong and Taipei. During that period, Walsh also was involved in private equity investments. In 2011, Walsh and his wife Pandora Lu decided to take the Canadian government up on their offer of permanent residence, and moved to Toronto. Walsh is now an independent asset manager, using algorithmic driven investing strategies for individual and small institutional portfolios. Walsh is also a running enthusiast. After a 15 year break from NCAA level running, Walsh started dodging scooters and binglang fueled blue trucks in Taipei to get in shape for a marathon, eventually posting a best time of 2:35. The clean air of Canada is presenting a new challenge for his running. LinkedIn: http://www.linkedin.com/pub/walsh-mcguire-cfa/0/2a9/a51 Joined: January 2012
